May, Jr., M.D. and Jason Williams, M.D. as our General Ophthalmologists, Leslie O'Dell, OD as our General Optometrist and three part time ophthalmologists Eric Suan, M.D. (Retina Specialist),Matthew Speicher, M.D. (Retina Specialist), and Newman Sund, M.D. (Retina Specialist) all traveling from full time offices in York and Baltimore.

Carl J. May Jr., MD
Carl J. May Jr., MD is a distinguished Cataract and LASIK surgeon whose skill and experience make him well versed in the field of ophthalmic surgery. Dr. May graduated from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD with a degree in Business. He went on to receive a Masters Degree in Physiology at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. He then graduated from Jefferson Medical University in Philadelphia, PA and completed an internship in medicine at the Medical Center of Delaware and Christiania Hospital. Dr. May practiced for a year as a family doctor before starting his residency in eye surgery at Stony Brook and Nassau County Medical Center in New York.
Dr. May began his ophthalmology career in Hanover, PA in 1994. In 2001, he started his own practice, the MECCA. As a board certified surgeon by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. May is a revered member of a number of medical societies. Dr. May's trademark skill is in Cataract and Refractive Surgery. In his continual quest for knowledge, he has researched, published, and presented to several prestigious medical groups numerous cutting-edge techniques within the field of ophthalmic surgery. Today, he continues to push forward in the field of LASIK and Cataract Surgery. He was the first to introduce many new state-of-the-art techniques to the Central Pennsylvania area. He most recently adopted innovations including Wavefront or WaveScan technology and the VISX STAR S4, all used to most accurately perfrom LASIK surgery.
Dr. May remains the only ophthalmologist in the area providing such advanced technology and recommends that everything have a wavescan prior to LASIK Surgery. He has appeared on many news and television programs including WGAL'S "12:30 live" to educate the public about eye surgery. He has also appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines.
Leslie E. O'Dell, OD
Leslie E. O'Dell, OD graduated Cum Laude from the University of Delaware in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology and a minor in medical humanities. She graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) in 2003. While attending PCO, Dr. O'Dell was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. What makes Dr. O'Dell extraordinary is her completion of a hospital based residency at the Baltimore VA Medical Center, one of the top optometry residencies in the country. While she gained valuable experience through outside clinics with specialists in glaucoma, retina and corneal disease. A licensed optometrist in Pennsylvania and Maryland, Dr. O'Dell is a member of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She is currently working on her acceptance requirements to become a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
In addition to providing routine and medical eye care, Dr. O'Dell is establishing herself as a specialist in the treatment of dry eye disease. She has lectured at local and regional optometry meetings.
Dr. O'Dell is also adapting to the increasing eye care needs of the aging population by offering low vision care. Low vision care is a specialty that is new to the Hanover and surrounding area.
Jason Williams, M.D.
Jason Williams, MD., certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, has recently joined the May Eye Care Center. Most Recently employed in Newark, Deleware and Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Williams is a graduate of Hampton University. He received his Medical Degree at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School, Newark, NJ.
Dr. Williams completed his ophthalmology speciality training at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center/UPMC Eye Center in Pittburgh, PA.
His interests include providing complete care to his patients through cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment, glaucoma and retina laser therapy, diabetic eye disease treatments, and more.
He will soon be expanding his expertise to provide refractive surgicia services along with DR. May, including premium multi-focal lenses.
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Williams to the MECCA family.
Dr May has one of the best support teams in all of Pennsylvania. We are in the state-of-the-art medical facility called the Hillside Medical Center. We will have our own Visx Star 4 LASER with Wavefront on sight for your convenience.
