Noah Eckel, OD
Doctor of Optometry · Comprehensive Eye Exams & Medical Eye Care · Hanover, PA

Dr. Noah Eckel is an optometrist — and the newest member of the doctor team — at The May Eye Care Center & Associates in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Originally from central Maryland, he earned his Doctor of Optometry summa cum laude from the Southern College of Optometry and joined the practice in 2026, bringing training that runs from front-line primary eye care to hospital-based management of complex ocular disease.
Twice summa cum laude
Dr. Eckel completed his undergraduate studies at Grove City College, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, and went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry at the Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in Memphis, Tennessee — again graduating summa cum laude.
At SCO he was actively involved with both the student body and the Memphis community. In addition to participating in several optometry interest clubs, he was selected to serve as President of the SCO Student Ambassador Program, representing the college through engagement with students, alumni, and local community initiatives.
Through his clinical rotations, Dr. Eckel received robust training in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease — including infectious eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease — along with rotations in pediatrics, primary eye care, low vision rehabilitation, and vision therapy.
Trained at Walter Reed
Dr. Eckel gained a wide range of clinical experience at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, where he provided primary eye care and on-call urgent care.
He also completed a clinical rotation at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), performing comprehensive neuro-optometric evaluations and collaborating with patients, families, referring providers, and researchers to help improve the lives of United States service members affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI).
